We can do better!

Part of thinking exponentially is not accepting everything you hear, no matter the source. When my friend Rob Schneider shares his extreme views on climate denial, I always ask him one simple question, can we do better? No denial there. We can all have different opinions, yet we should not hinder society from doing better. Even Rob Schneider, Joe Rogan, and other leaders have shared to question everything they say, as trust is always filtered through perspective. Always trust your gut, it will align you with your filtered view on the world.

There are three film and TV scenes that challenge the political narrative and inherently misdirect what you have always been told about the world and what to believe. The storytelling is masterful, the facts need a closer look on some and not others, I’ll let you dig deep on it.

Landman – Oil versus Wind and Solar.

If you watched the above, now watch the full debunk and critical thinking piece by Meromorphic.

It may feel like your emotions just got played with, yet hopefully you can see both perspectives and make your own decisions. Petroleum is not bad and has advanced the world in more ways than expected, and we need to find a new source for energy. So we should stop questioning things in silos or perspectives. Wind works, solar works, yet clear it will not solve all our problems. Nuclear would have been the answer, yet climate advocates fought against the one clean energy. Nothing is at it appears if you just listen to the loudest voice.

Now I suggest you take a deeper look on everything and find deeper opinions, it will make you more interesting at dinner parties to know you can argue both sides of the story instead of taking the confirmation bias of the left or the right. Yet, it will also create your own opinion not based on the opinion of another, as many live in social media echo chambers and when they present their arguments, they have no depth. They are in the step and repeat of social media reposting.

Now lets dive deeper into animal rights and the environment from Yellowstone:

To anyone watching, thinking bigger about everything you’ve been taught is going to hopefully have you understand, we can do better. Taking the side of one (big fury animals), may impact the many others. You have to weigh the unintended cost of your decisions and opinions. You have to have perspective opposite of your own current reality to see it another way.

“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless yet be determined to make them otherwise.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Finally, this scene from the Newsroom, another scene that challenges what you may believe about our own country. It’s worth a closer look:

This scene is very accurate from the time period and should again push us that we can do better.
